I love the taste of musk melon and we used to cube it, add sugar and serve it chilled. When I saw this at the fruit shop, I bought home one to make the above preparation. But then I started paleo diet and I didn’t want to add sugar to it. I was also not sure whether my daughter would like it as she is the only person who is having sugar at home. So I decided to make a smoothie instead. When I sliced the musk melon, I was surprised that it was not at all sweet.
So I added a banana to the smoothie to give it some natural sugar. Fruits can be taken in moderation during paleo diet and it is the only sugar you can consume without guilt. I used to run away from fruits previously but now whenever I crave for something sweet, I opt for a fruit. I think paleo is the best thing to have occurred to me. I am changing to a healthy life style and as a result even Sruti is getting good healthy foods. This smoothie is so easy to make. Just slice all the fruits, add milk and blend until smooth. If you want it chilled, add some ice cubes while blending. I normally don’t serve super chilled foods for Sruti, so I skipped adding ice cubes. But the musk melon was from refrigerator, so it was moderately cool. This smoothie is so filling and you can make it for any sudden hunger pang.
Musk Melon – 1/2 fruit, peeled and cubed
Banana – 1
Milk – 1 cup
Peel, remove the seeds and cube the musk melon.
Add half the fruit to the mixer juicer jar.
Add in one sliced banana and a cup of milk.
Blend until smooth.
Pour into glasses and serve immediately.
