I have been postponing this introduction for so long, but I think you need to know the face behind this blog. I am Gayathri, wife of Palanikumar and mother of Sruti. I grew up in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Mysore. Of all the three places I love Mysore a lot as I went to college there. I have done my Diploma in Fashion Designing there. Then I got married to PK whose native is Theni and I returned to Tamil Nadu. I used to take classes on Fashion Designing in Theni until my daughter was born. We shifted to Madurai and I am at present living there. The idea of writing a food blog arose when I saw so many blogs with delicious recipes.
At first I started this blog as an online cook book for my reference but seeing all the feedback from readers and after making so many friends among bloggers, I became very much interested. I started experimenting with different cuisines and eggless baking. I became part of many online groups and it helps me to learn a lot about other countries and their special dishes. Baking has been one of my interests and when PK got me an oven in 2008, I started trying out new recipes. When they turned out great I understood that my passion was in eggless baking. Even I got orders from neighbors. So this blog changed my life and now I have readers all over the world. It is the happiest moment when someone from the other side of the globe appreciates my work.
I started with a Canon point and shoot camera to take food photographs and during the first anniversary of the blog, hubby gifted me with a Nikon DSLR. It took me nearly a year to know the basics of shooting with a DSLR, but I know that I have improved a lo0t now when compared to the beginning days of blogging. I still hope to improve my photography in the coming years.
Being a food blogger is not just about cooking and writing down recipes. We need to be the photographer, website developer and social media partner. Yes, we need to be multi talented to run a successful blog. I have learnt a lot in these five years. I am not very much into software programming, but when I shifted my blog from blogger to a self hosted wordpress site, I took upon the job of designing my website from scratch. It took nearly a year to understand the basics of website and all the trouble shooting days were so laborious. Thanks to a lot of bloggers like me, there are posts to learn every thing in the net. This blog is a way of giving back some from my side after learning a lot.
For some years, I took up to teaching baking for beginners and also took cake orders. But as the blog grew, I couldn’t concentrate on classes and orders. So now I am a full time blogger. I have also started my you tube channel where I post cake recipes, cake designing tutorials and some regional dishes. If you love to take a look at my video channel, click here. Do not forget to subscribe to the channel.
I try to add each and every detail while writing down the recipe and if there are some errors, please point it out so that I can change it. If you have any doubts regarding any recipe, please feel free to mail me at gayathriraani@gmail.com.
I hope you have a nice time in my blog and find it really useful. Thank you..

Hi Gayathri,
I have been following your posts in the Home Bakers Guild on FB !! Your website and recipe details are excellent and just the way I would also present or teach someone. Thank you 🙂
Hi Gayathri do you have a recipe for making whole grain Spelt bread. I believe it has a very delicate gluten structure so am little apprehensive in attempting to make one. Online there are so many different ways of handling the flour that it is very confusing. Can you please help. Many thanks
Sorry Jayshree, I don’t have a recipe.
Hi Gayathri,
i love your eggless experiments and try them as well. My family is very fond of your spinach quiche. it’s a hit every time. I am planning to bake quiche for my cousins birthday next week but its for 100 people that is atleast 10-12 of them. can you please advise how in advance i can bake and store them.
thank you 🙂
Hi, you can prepare the short crust pastry a week ahead. You can clean and freeze spinach before three days, shred cheese and freeze three days ahead. Just start baking the day before. I have heard that you can freeze the prepared quiches and then reheat while serving. But I haven’t tried it in person. Hope this works for you..
Quite impressed by your blog. Keep up the good work. God Bless you.

Hello Gayarti
Thank you for posting all these gorgeous recipes. Your measurements are always perfect and one could never go wrong with them.
I have a request for a bun recipe and would be very grateful if you could post it on your website made with your ‘perfect measurements’.
The recipe is called inside out Hong Kong buns and its from the website I stumbled upon ‘thewoksoflife.com’. They look absolutely soft and fluffy, I tried to make them with custard filling, but unfortunately turned out to be a disaster.
Would be delighted to have these from you – made with your expertise and perfect measurements.
Hope you will be able to help.
Thank you so much. Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Salma
Thank you so much. Will take a look at that recipe..
Thank you so much for the recipes and the detailed explanations. I am glad to have found your blog as you make efforts to explain in detail. Now I know why my cakes harden after refrigeration. Couldn’t find this answer in any other blog. Thank you so much

Hello,
First time here. A friend shared your yeast free bread recipes which I want to try soon. I was wondering if you also have a vegan yeast free bread recipe! It would be amazing if you could share that!
TIA
Jains
Thank you. Looking forward to your breads. You can easily convert any recipe to vegan by substituting equal quantities of milk with almond/coconut milk, butter with vegan butter/ vanaspathi and curd with almond milk + vinegar. Hope this helps.
Oh my god.. This lady is a superstar is what came to my mind when I saw your blog. I’m working, but absolutely love baking n cooking and always exploring. Hi Gayathri
I Have been following you for quiet a long time. I am working and love baking and cooking. I love your eggless bakes and your Caramel cake is a big hit for me. Recently I have done Eggless baked Cheese cake online class with you. I am very impress with your kind and humble nature. These cheese cakes are also a big famous in my family. Everybody likes them and now eveytime a demand for this is there. That way we are in touch daily with your Whatsapp group but today I thought I should leave a reply here.

Thank you so much for your kind words. So sweet of you to leave me reply in the blog!
I have been a professional american baker for 10 years now and I love your site!
You have a very fresh, clean, clever way of baking I respect deeply. You bring a lot of cultures together and find a straight forward way to make a bunch of delicious and lovely baked goods.
I was inspired in a lot of ways reading here, i favorited the site and will be back again!
Thank you so much for taking your time to go through the blog. And thanks for the appreciation.
Dear Gayathri:
I have felt quite separated from my culture for many years. Yesterday, I took my son and our friends to Little India in Toronto to partake in Diwali celebrations. I treated us to some sweets that I hadn’t tasted in decades. One was milk cake. I’m so grateful that you’ve included a recipe and a beautiful write up for this treat.
Looking forward to spending more time on your blog. Thank you for your hard work and for sharing about yourself here.
M
Thank you so much for your appreciation. I hope you will find more authentic Indian recipes here in the blog.
Hi – your recipes are very good. I am looking for recipes which does not use maida, baking soda or powder, white sugar. Can you point out to the recipes which do not use the above ingredients.
Thanks
Thank you so much. If you want to avoid baking powder and baking soda, you need eggs in the batter. If you are ok with adding eggs, I have a whole wheat pound cake. It is without any leavening agents and no maida and white sugar.
