Last week I spent five days in Delhi with my food blogger friends and enjoyed it so much. I will be writing about my adventures in Delhi in a while. As I was away from home, I didn’t even check my blog for the last seven days. After coming back, I was so tired, I couldn’t again sit to write in the blog. Today I am back to my dieting and love to share with you a very important drink which we have been drinking for the past 45 days.
Even before I started my paleo diet, I started drinking this detox drink. It is so much healthier and do not miss it out. It is also an acquired taste. So don’t think it will be very tasty. But it is so good for your body.
Preparing this drink is very easy. Before we take our breakfast we consume two drinks in the morning. The very first one is warm water mixed with lemon juice. And the next one is this detox drink. This has gooseberries, curry leaves and any greens. Whenever I visit farmer’s market, I buy one or two bunches of greens. After I started paleo, I have stopped doing side dishes or gravies with greens as I like to have them with rice or roti. But I add a handful of greens daily in this drink so that I won’t miss out on greens. Use a juicer to blend everything. At first I used a mixer jar and the drink turned out creamy like a smoothie which I didn’t like at all. But this juice is comparatively good with the goose berries’ flavour prominent. This is also good for hair growth and so I insist that Sruti has her share every day.
Check out Turmeric Curry Leaves juice recipe too. Click on link for the recipe.
Curry Leaves – handful
Any Greens – handful
Water – 1 cup
In a juicer jar, take all the ingredients.
Run the mixer on low speed until the greens and gooseberries are nicely ground.
Pour the drink into a sieve and strain out the juice. Use a spoon to remove all the juice and discard the pulp.
Drink it immediately. It is better to drink it 30 minutes before your breakfast.
Disclaimer: I am not a nutritionist or a dietitian. The recipes and ideas I share are the part of vegetarian paleo diet I have been following. I wouldn’t say that this is authentic paleo as paleo consists of meat and very less milk. This one is for those vegetarians who don’t even consume eggs.
