Whole Wheat Oats Banana Bread

This has wheat flour, oats, brown sugar, eggs, banana and ghee which makes it a hearty wholesome breakfast bread. If you bake this in a loaf tin, you can toast the slices and serve with your favourite spread at the side. I baked it yesterday for my breakfast and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Whole Wheat Oats Banana Bread

This is a simple breakfast wheat flour oats banana bread with very little sugar. I actually posted an eggless banana bread and converted it to egg based recipe yesterday. So if you like to see the eggless recipe, check here. Make sure to use a small banana. I see that readers go with whatever banana they have and end up with a mushy bread. Click on the image for the eggless recipe.

If you happen to have a large banana, use only half of it and eat the remaining! Though I bake a lot everyday, I don’t bake that regularly for ourselves apart from breads. So it was a wonderful treat yesterday. As it is tiny, we ended up finishing it of as soon as it came out of oven. Do try and let me know how you liked it. Use any type of nuts/ seeds/ dry fruits for topping or even leave it plain. It tastes good.

  1. Hi Gayathri, I chanced upon your lovely site. Seems a labor of food love. 🙂

How can i make this whole wheat oats banana cake without an oven and without eggs?

I am locked down since March where my parents live and have no access to an oven and they don’t eat eggs.

Also, is baking soda a substitute for baking powder? Or do they work differently?

    1. Hi, thank you. You can easily make this without eggs and oven. Instead of eggs, use 100 gm of yogurt and add a tbs extra wheat flour in the recipe. Preheat your heavy bottomed pan on medium low flame on small burner for 15-20 minutes.
Place a stand inside the pan and keep your cake tin on it, cover and bake.

  2. Hello
Can I use powered oats? Or
Can I skip oats and use same amount of whole wheat flour?
    Thanks
