The best part of being a food blogger is to be in active food groups. The group which has influenced me the most is the Blogging Marathon group started by Srivalli. When I first started taking part in Blogging Marathon, it was just like in any group. We had to do non stop blogging and had to encourage the other members of the group by visiting their blogs. But as time went by, we increased in numbers and became a close knit group. Whatever doubt we may have, BM is the first place we turn to. Either celebration or sad news, we share it there first. I could never stay away from BM and nowadays even though I don’t take part in BM so much, I am always in for any special BM or celebration post. When I visited Chennai last month, Srivalli had arranged for a blogger’s meet where some of the BM members met and had fun the whole day. So this friendship among members is so much more than just the virtual world.
One of our members Sapana of Cooking with Sapana is expecting her second child and Srivalli decided to do a virtual Baby Shower for her. So it was decided that we cook up dishes from her blog, write about it and share it with her to give her a sweet surprise. We even did a baby shower for PJ and a bridal shower for Aarthi. For the past one week I have been quite busy with classes and orders. I selected a dish for her long back but I couldn’t make it until today. And again today there was a marriage to attend and I was so much worried that I will not be preparing anything for her. And when I woke up at 4am, I went through her blog again and chose a simple yet delicious recipe. I prepared the brownies, allowed them to cool and covered it with foil and left for marriage. After returning back, I took the snaps and served it to my nieces. They liked it so much. And there was no problem with Sruti as this was loaded with her most favourite ingredient – Chocolate. The original recipe in Sapana’s blog had walnuts but as I had one walnut brownie recipe, I added white chocolate chips instead. The brownies turned out super soft, moist and absolutely delicious. The best thing abouth these brownies was that it doesn’t have butter and eggs but still they are great..

In south India we actually celebrate it as Valaikappu in which the expecting mom is made to wear lots and lots of colourful bangles. It is beleived that the music the bangles make, makes the child happy. These are the bangles used on my Valaikappu and I preserve them. It is usually a happy moment to even look at these cute colourful bangles. Valaikappu is usually conducted on 7th or 9th month. The mom to be will wear it until delivery. It is kind of cute to look at thoses bangles. They also prepare 7 or 9 types of variety rice for the function. We all wish you a safe delivery, Sapana!!
