Aloo Chat Recipe

After the three flat breads, I am here with a new theme for my next week. I am doing a month long blogging marathon – Cooking Carnival with my BM buddies and I have chosen to do a theme for a week. So five themes for five weeks. To know about the themes I have chosen for this BM, take a look at my introduction post. This week is going to be an awesome collection of chat recipes. Chat is nothing but street food from Northern part of India. There are so many chat shops here in Madurai and the dishes we get are most common like pani puri, masal puri, bhel puri, papdi chats, pav bhaji and samosa and cutlet chats. But there are more which are not available here. They have one gravy made with white chickpeas and they use it for all the chats like masal puri, cutlet chat and samosa chat. So when it comes to chat, we don’t have too many options. But I have managed to make so many chats at home. Do take a look at my chat page to learn more. Even though I try to make a chat whenever I learn about it, there are so many left for me try out. Recently I have started watching YouTube videos of Indian street food to learn more about them. This week I will be cooking from the new chats I learnt through YouTube.

The first in the series is a very simple yet amazingly delicious chat. My daughter came back for a second serving. Potato is a vegetable loved all over the world. There are so many varieties of dishes you can make using potatoes. It is such a versatile vegetable. My daughter and myself love this so much and my hubby teases us by calling us potatoes. For all the chat recipes you need two chutneys – green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney. I always have a jar full of those two in my fridge and it becomes so easy when you need to put together a chat. I have given both the recipes for the chutneys below. The potatoes are deep fried, but if you are too health conscious, you can either pan fry them or bake them. But indulging on deep fried snacks once in a while is not that bad.

I love painting, dress designing and of course cooking. This blog which started as an online cookery book has given me a great insight into baking and has transformed me into a home baker who is now thriving to learn a lot about cakes and decorating techniques. This blog has thousands of tried and tasted vegetarian recipes around the world and eggless bakes.
