Sweet Corn Cutlet

This month’s challenge at Daring Cooks is Flipping Fried Patties. The hosts of this challenge is Audax of Audax Artifex and Lisa of La Mia Cucina. Both challenged the daring cooks to try out patties otherwise known as cutlets or burgers. They left the choice of the ingredients to us. So I made these sweet corn patties or cutlets. I used bread slices for binding. I also pan fried the cutlets instead of deep frying them. The ingredients given in the recipe yields 4 cutlets. I also made a burger using home made burger bun. The recipe for the bun will be posted soon. The cutlet was slightly sweet because of the sweet corn. It was firm but soft and delicious.

Ingredients:
Sweet Corn-1
Potato-1medium
Onion-1
Bread Slice-3
Salt-to taste
Garlic Powder-1tsp
Red Chilly Powder-1/2tsp or according to taste
Coriander Leaves-2tbs finely chopped
Oil-2tbs

Procedure:
1. Pressure cook the potato and sweet corn kernels together.
2. Drain water, transfer the sweet corn to a mixer grinder and grind it to a coarse paste. Do not add water.
3. Peel the skin of potato and mash it with a masher.
4. Add the corn paste, bread slices, chilly powder, garlic powder, salt and coriander leaves.
5. Heat 1/2tsp oil and saute onions till golden. Add this to the corn mixture.
6. Mash everything together with a masher and knead it into a soft dough.
7. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and shape each portion into a round cutlet.
8. Heat a non stick tawa and place the cutlets on tawa.
9. Drizzle the oil on the cutlets and pan fry them until both sides are firm and golden.
10. Serve them hot with tomato ketchup or slice a burger bun and place it in the centre and serve.

Take all the ingredients in a bowl.

Prepare a soft dough.

Divide and shape 4 cutlets.

Pan fry the cutlets till golden.

I made this burger with the cutlet topped with cheddar cheese. It was delicious..
