Yey! September is here and it is time for another mega Blogging Marathon.September is a month I love the most as both my blog baby and hubby have birthdays. And another reason is that it is a month of non stop blogging fun. For this mega marathon, there are five themes, a theme for a week. Are you excited? Read on to know more about the theme.

For the first week, we have the theme of Combo Dishes from countries. The dishes needs to be authentic and from the particular region. So any post needs to have two or more dishes served together. When the theme was announced this was the first dish I prepared. When in Chennai, I bought home a block of feta cheese and immediately used it to make this Greek meal. As you know feta is extensively used in Greek dishes. I decided to make a salad with feta and a crusty bread to go along with feta bouyiourdi. Feta in brine is too salty and so if sing, wash it under running water. And while adding it to the dish, make sure to add less or no salt as the salt in the cheese would be enough to season the whole dish. I haven’t added salt in my recipe and even then I found the cheese salty.

Feta bouyiourdi is a simple dish but very flavourful. It is usually served with crusty bread. There will be a lot of juice left after baking the cheese and peppers and the bread is used to mop up the juice. I just loved it. Feta cheese’s interior becomes soft when hot but it still has the firm exterior. When tasted along with the bell peppers and the bread it is amazing. But as expected my better half and my daughter didn’t even want to try it. I didn’t even feel bad about it. I enjoyed it for my lunch and dinner and the leftover, I finished it for my breakfast the next day. The next day the flavours were so much intense.

I love painting, dress designing and of course cooking. This blog which started as an online cookery book has given me a great insight into baking and has transformed me into a home baker who is now thriving to learn a lot about cakes and decorating techniques. This blog has thousands of tried and tasted vegetarian recipes around the world and eggless bakes.

  2. Sounds like a flavorful bake. I would love this one and like you, I might be the only one to eat it at home.. 🙂 Yes, feta is slightly on the saltier side and I usually do not add salt when I make anything with it.

  3. What a delicious dish with feta. I’m the only one eating feta at home 🙂 so if I make this dish, it will be all for me. Never tried to bake with feta — will have to give this a try.
