Butter Beans Kulambu

This is a simple gravy prepared in less than 30minutes.It goes well with rice and chapathi.

The Recipe:
Ingredients:
Butter beans-250gm
Onion-2
Tomato-2
Coconut grated-1 1/2 cups
Salt- to taste
Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
Sambhar powder-2tsp
Coriander leaves(optional)-for garnishing

Procedure:
1. Grind coconut and tomatoes to fine paste.
2. Heat oil, add mustard and cumin. When it splutters add onion and saute it.
3. When golden brown add butter beans, coconut paste, turmeric powder, sambhar powder, water and salt.
4. Pressure cook for 5 minutes.
5. Transfer it to serving dish and garnish with coriander leaves.

    1. Hi Amitha, We call it as butter beans in Tamil. This is a very famous vegetable in Madurai and places surrounding Maddurai. Where do you live?If you don’t get it in market then you can try super markets.
