For this year’s Pongal, four of my dishes were published in Dinalmalar’s Pongal malar. As I was going through so many hurdles in life, I didn’t even think of writing about it in my blog until today. It has been nearly a week since it got published and I need to thank Srinivasan from Dinamalar for coming up with this wonderful idea and trusting me to come up with delicious dishes. When he first asked me about doing dishes with sugar cane juice, I had no idea about it and I was kind of blank to his question. I asked him for a day’s time to come up with recipes. Then the first thing I did was to ask the Blogging Marathon group if anybody had any idea about the dishes. Padma at once had a positive reply for me. And within the next 10 minutes, she inboxed me with the recipes for kheer and dosa.
And the same day we went to get sugarcane juice. I have tasted sugarcane juice at road side stalls but have never got them by litres. I came home with 2 litres of sugarcane juice and started making the dishes Padma suggested. Once I got the hang of using the juice in the recipe, I started churning out other recipes. Then came the cupcakes, sweet pongal, sweet potato halwa, kesari and sweet aval. I used more than 4 litres of sugar cane juice for all the dishes and when I finished with all, I felt accomplished. And to add to that I got so many positive reviews for all the dishes. Starting from tomorrow, I will share all the recipes for the dishes in the upcoming posts. Here is a virtual treat for alll my readers… Sugarcane Juice Dosa
