Instant Vazhai Poo / Banana Blossom Bonda

This bonda is very easy to make. Usually bonda is made by grinding urad dhal to a nice fluffy batter. But it takes time to prepare. This bonda uses maida and rice flour and can be prepared within 15minutes. It is also very tasty. It has a crispy crust and the inner flesh is very soft and spongy. This goes very well with coconut chutney. We really had a nice snack with a cup of coffee.

Ingredients:
Maida-1cup
Rice Flour-1/4cup
Cumin Seeds-1/2tsp
Baking Soda-1/2tsp
Salt-to taste
Butter Milk-1 1/4cup
Oil-To Deep Fry
Green Chilly-2 Finely Chopped
Coriander Leaves-4 tbs finely chopped
Banana Blossom Fibres-1/2cup

Procedure:
1. Mix maida, rice flour, baking soda and salt.
2. Add butter milk and prepare a thick batter. You should be able to pinch small amount of the batter.
3. Add the cumin, banana blossom, green chillies and coriander leaves.
4. Heat oil. When hot, pinch small amount of the batter and drop it into hot oil.
5. Fry until golden brown.
6. Place on tissue to absorb extra oil.
7. Serve it hot with chutney.
