I am so late in posting this week’s recipes, but it is better late than never. We usually don’t plan our holidays. Whenever we plan something, it never happens. So this week, we were little surprised when hubby asked us to pack for a trip. We nagged him about our destination, but he never gave it until we started our journey. It was Coutrallam this year. It is one of the places we have never visited and so both myself and Sruti were super excited. But sadly this was off season and when we reached Coutrallam, the place was deserted. There was no water in the falls. And the hotel where we stayed was also deserted. But still we went to visit the old Coutrallam, which was far from the main place where we were staying. There were hundreds of monkeys and only one vehicle apart from ours.
We stayed there for sometime and returned to the main falls. By 5:30 it was open to visitors and there was little water which was actually sufficient for Sruti to enjoy. And without much people, she actually had a wonderful time. And the day being Chitra Pournami, we had a divine darshan at the Kutralanadhar Temple. And that day Coutrallam saw a massive rainfall which was the first rain in so many days. Guess our happiness. The next day all the falls had so much water but very little crowd. And we had a blasting time. By noon all the places were filled with tourists and we were so lucky to have enjoyed the first water in the falls. We just decided to rest and left after two days. And I think hubby was in great holiday mood, he took us to Bahubali 2 the same evening. We came home late night completely exhausted but totally satisfied with the three days enjoyment. Will share some of our trip photos after the post.
For this week, my chosen theme is toasts. My daughter loves breads and most of the time, she chooses a simple toast instead of dosas. So whenever I visit a super market, I buy a whole wheat bread so that she could enjoy her share of breads. This time, I wanted to do a little more than the normal bread butter and jam. I am raking my brain to come up with a toast which can satisfy my daughter. If it is something she may hate, then it has to be binned as I don’t eat breads. So I am playing it safe. I will be using only daughter approved ingredients to make the toasts this week. So they may not be very creative, they may not be different but will be way too simple. The important thing is that my daughter should approve it. This toast is one such which is so easy to put together and is 100% Sruti approved.
Ingredients:
Wheat Bread – 4 slices
Dried Cranberries – a handful
Almond Chocolate Spread – 2 tbs
Butter – 2 tsp
Procedure:
Apply butter on all slices of bread.
Either toast it in a toaster, oven or a pan until golden and crisp.
Apply the chocolate spread on a slice, add some cranberries, cover it with another slice and serve immediately.

Whichever falls we go, there were awesome bajjis!
Peacocks were everywhere!
This is the old Coutrallam. This rock was so steep and there were hundreds of monkeys on it. It is impossible for me to capture them, but if you look you can see tiny spots in the picture which are the monkeys. Reminded of Jungle Book seeing this!
Nice pictures of the falls. Kids always love such simple chocolaty toasts!
