How did you find our Day 1 and Day 2 adventures. While those two days were most about sight seeing, the third day was totally about food. You know that I am following paleo diet and carbs are a big no no in it. But apart from the first day, I couldn’t continue with my diet. I ate everything and I think I gained one or two kg in those four days. But still it was worth it. I don’t know when I will return to Delhi and have a try at these delicious foods.

Day 3 was red day and all of us, including the kids were adorned in red. We also had a black stole as a fashion statement. I mostly wore saree in this trip and I could manage easily. We left the villa at 8 AM and within that time we had a light breakfast of toasts and spread. Then we went to the subway and took the metro. It was a nice experience traveling in the metro.

We went to Old Delhi for our food adventure. We started our walk from metro and ate whatever we saw on the roads. People gave us weird look as we were clicking everything we saw.
The first stop was Paratha wala. It was so yum. Served piping hot along with chutney and pickle, we shared two parathas among ourselves.

Chai wala on the road side

Hot and spicy bread pakoras served with potato sabzi

Neem trees are there everywhere in Madurai and hubby always brings home one or two twigs to brush his teeth. I was so surprised to see them selling a bunch of those sticks for Rs 40 on Delhi streets.

Milk sweets at a stall

Pooris made fresh

Kachoris and puris

Pooris served with aloo

Also tasted halwa poori. I always thought that pooris and halwa don’t go together, but this dish proved me wrong. The halwa was mildly sweet and it was an yum combination

Moong dal halwa – so sinful brimming with ghee

Looks like a normal kachori but has a delicious moong filling

Daulat Ka Chat – Looks super rich, melts in the mouth like cloud, the addition of mawa was quite delicious

Some fruits which we also get in Madurai

Roasted Sweet Potato chat

Little rest after eating so much

Loved the fresh, colourful vegetables sold on roadside.

When we reached this kulfi wala, it was closed. Guess what we did? we called him up and asked him to open the shop. How crazy is that?

Assorted kulfis in his freezer

We almost tasted everything in the list

Mango kulfi inside a whole mango – totally yum

Once I tasted this pomegranate kulfi, all the other kulfis took a back seat. By far the best filled kulfi I ever tasted

Orange filled kulfi

Apple Filled Kulfi

Different Kulfi Julpeps – These were absolutely yum- Totally different flavours. Imli and Pan were the best among these.

Tired after eating all those kulfis

The cycle wala chole was just opposite the kulfi shop. Totally different. The kulcha was so soft and had a nice dosa king of texture and Sruti finished it off. The cycle wala also explained how the chole was made.

Again time for chats
Aloo chat

Ram Ladoo
Kanji Bada stall – I loved that spicy kanji than the vadas.

Kalmi vadas – Though the vadas were nice, they tasted heavenly with the curd and chutney toppings

Rabdi

Aloo Tikki and Dahi Balla – Both were absolutely fantastic

Though we went to paranthe wali galli, we were too full to taste anything there. We just saw one shop and returned back.

Besan Cheela and Toasts

And finally we were home. This one is pan cake, made by Vaishali’s cousin. She gave this when we met her at Agra. Tasted awesome.

Valli’s class on word press. How to improve blogging and so much more.

Finally dinner on terrace. After dinner, we started preparing for the workshop next day. I went to sleep by 3 AM next morning and got up at 6 AM.

More on the workshop tomorrow. Bye for now. Enjoy all the virtual foods.
