Whole wheat Crumpets Recipe

Whole wheat crumpets are tiny pan fried bread which have crispy crust and a soft fluffy crumb, perfect to be served for breakfast.

Ingredients
  

  • 150 gm Whole wheat flour
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp Instant Yeast
  • 300 ml Water
  • Butter as needed

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and instant yeast.
  • Add water to make thick batter.
  • Cover and set aside for 30 minutes, until light and bubbly.
  • Grease a skillet with butter, place the crumpet rings and pour two tbs of batter in each ring.
  • Allow the crumpets to cook on low flame until the top is cooked.
  • Remove from pan and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Toast the crumpets before serving with jam/ peanut butter / nutella.
