Onion Sandwich Buns Recipe

  • All Purpose Flour / Maida - 3 1/2 cups
  • Water - 3/4 - 1 cup
  • Butter - 2 tbs
  • Milk - 1/4 cup
  • Vinegar - 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar - 1/4 cup
  • Salt - 1 1/4 tsp
  • Onion - 2 finely chopped
  • Instant Yeast - 3/4 tbs
  • Italian Spice Mix - 1 tbs
  • Sesame Seeds

Procedure

  • In a bowl mix together flour, salt, sugar, yeast.
  • Add 1 onion, milk, vinegar and 3/4 cup of water.
  • Mix to form a sticky dough.
  • Add more water if necessary.
  • Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it becomes soft, smooth and elastic.
  • Place in a well oiled bowl, cover with cling film and set aside until double.
  • Remove it from the bowl, roll it into a rectangle.
  • Sprinkle the remaining onions and sprinkle some Italian spice mix.
  • Roll it into a tight log.
  • Slice it into 8 equal portions.
  • Arrange the rolls on a greased tray and Press them slightly to make them flat.
  • Cover and set aside for 15 minutes.
  • By the time they prove, preheat oven to 200°C.
  • Brush the top of the rolls with milk and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  • Bake them for 20 - 25 minutes or until the top is golden.
  • Remove from oven, allow it to cool before storing in a box.
