Kutchi Dabeli Pav Recipe


For The Potato Filling

  • Potato - 3
  • Oil - 1 tbs
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida / Hing - a pinch
  • Dabeli Masala Powder - 2 tsp click for recipe
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sweet Chutney - 2 tbs click for recipe

Other Ingredients

  • Pav Buns
  • Sweet Chutney
  • Chopped Onion
  • Pomegranate Seeds
  • Sev
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Roasted Peanuts
  • Chat Masala



  • In a pan heat oil and add cumin seeds.
  • When they crackle, add asafoetida.
  • Boil, peel and mash potatoes.
  • Add the mased potatoes to the pan.
  • Add dabeli masala powder, salt ans sweet chutney.
  • Mix well.
  • Add coriander leaves and remove from stove.
  • Set aside to cool.

Arranging The Dabeli Pav

  • Slice the pav buns horizontally into two.
  • Add butter to tawa and roast the buns until golden.
  • Apply sweet chutney on the buns, place a portion of the potato masala on the lower half of the bun.
  • Top it with onions, sev, peanuts, pomegranate, coriander leaves and sprinkle some chat masala on top.
  • Place the top half of the bun on the arranged bun and serve immediately.
