I have been postponing this introduction for so long, but I think you need to know the face behind this blog. I am Gayathri, wife of Palanikumar and mother of Sruti. I grew up in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Mysore. Of all the three places I love Mysore a lot as I went to college there. I have done my Diploma in Fashion Designing there. Then I got married to PK whose native is Theni and I returned to Tamil Nadu. I used to take classes on Fashion Designing in Theni until my daughter was born. We shifted to Madurai and I am at present living there. The idea of writing a food blog arose when I saw so many blogs with delicious recipes.
My mom was a great cook. She taught me cooking, arts, stitching and many things what I know today. She encouraged me a lot in all the fields and she has been a great inspiration to me till now. This blog has so many recipes from her and when ever I have a doubt I call her. But unfortunately she passed away in 2013 and I have been left alone. This blog helps me come out of the sorrow.
At first I started this blog as an online cook book for my reference but seeing all the feedback from readers and after making so many friends among bloggers, I became very much interested. I started experimenting with different cuisines and eggless baking. I became part of many online groups and it helps me to learn a lot about other countries and their special dishes. Baking has been one of my interests and when PK got me an oven in 2008, I started trying out new recipes. When they turned out great I understood that my passion was in eggless baking. Even I got orders from neighbors. So this blog changed my life and now I have readers all over the world. It is the happiest moment when someone from the other side of the globe appreciates my work. This blog has crossed
three five wonderful years and within these three five years it has crossed 20 50 lakh page views. I would love to see it cross 50 100 lakhs and it is in the hands of you, my wonderful reader.
I started with a Canon point and shoot camera to take food photographs and during the first anniversary of the blog, hubby gifted me with a Nikon DSLR. It took me nearly a year to know the basics of shooting with a DSLR, but I know that I have improved a lo0t now when compared to the beginning days of blogging. I still hope to improve my photography in the coming years.
Being a food blogger is not just about cooking and writing down recipes. We need to be the photographer, website developer and social media partner. Yes, we need to be multi talented to run a successful blog. I have learnt a lot in these five years. I am not very much into software programming, but when I shifted my blog from blogger to a self hosted wordpress site, I took upon the job of designing my website from scratch. It took nearly a year to understand the basics of website and all the trouble shooting days were so laborious. Thanks to a lot of bloggers like me, there are posts to learn every thing in the net. This blog is a way of giving back some from my side after learning a lot.
For some years, I took up to teaching baking for beginners and also took cake orders. But as the blog grew, I couldn’t concentrate on classes and orders. So now I am a full time blogger. I have also started my you tube channel where I post cake recipes, cake designing tutorials and some regional dishes. If you love to take a look at my video channel, click here. Do not forget to subscribe to the channel.
I try to add each and every detail while writing down the recipe and if there are some errors, please point it out so that I can change it. If you have any doubts regarding any recipe, please feel free to mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope you have a nice time in my blog and find it really useful. Thank you..
