This is the final week of this month’s Blogging Marathon. After this week, I am taking a break from regular blogging as I am planning something else to pursue. Next month it is mega Blogging Marathon for which I started getting ready, but now I can’t commit to that. So after the three posts this week, you might see my blog going silent for the next month. But before going into the silent mode, I will share with you three amazing recipes I made for Sruti for her snack box. As you know, she loves what I make for her most of the time. It is very rare that she dislikes any recipe. When I made Sourdough loaf for last week, she enjoyed it with her fav spread, but the remaining loaf went into making these croutons.
Usually croutons are served along with soup or served as appetizer and they are mostly savoury. To make it quite interesting, I used butter and vanilla sugar. Don’t be afraid looking at the amount of butter in the recipe. It is just an occasional treat for kids. Also do portion control so that all the butter don’t go into one snack box. Once you combine all the ingredients, it is easy to bake. But I would like to add a note of caution. DO not over bake. It would turn super hard. I learnt it the hard way, Hehehe! Even the croutons may be slightly soft, they tend to continue baking with the remaining heat. So leave it on the tray itself until they cool down completely. My daughter loved these buttery croutons and she took it in her snack box to share with her friends. Just like her, her friends and teachers also love what I bake, so every time I try something, she takes it to school. I guess she loves seeing their reaction and sharing it with me.

That’s a lovely way to use up the bread Gayathri! A definite treat for kids and adults alike. Awaiting your return to blogging and good luck for your endeavours.
They served us salad with croutons last night and for the life of me, I couldn’t recall what the bread pieces were called. Me and my son ended up calling it bread bits and bread squares, but the term croutons is coming up only now . Love how nice yours have turned out to be, looks every bit like the restaurant ones!
Hi Maam, how can we make vanilla sugar incase we do not have it handy! Thanks
Yes, you can mix sugar and vanilla essence, allow it to air dry a little and your vanilla sugar is ready.
