After a delicious thick hot chocolate and an icecream coffee dessert Affogato, I made the third for myself. Like my daughter, I love coffee. My day needs to start with coffee and I feel so restless without it. So I always include 200 ml of milk in my diet chart so that I get two decent cups of coffee. I used to drink coffee with sugar, but these past two years, I have made it a habit of drinking without sugar. And now I feel sugar messes with coffee’s taste. And I drink black coffee any time of the day. So when I saw the recipe for caffe latte, I was hooked. This is nothing but combination of espresso and steamed milk. Though it is tough to make espresso at home, I opted to make a thick decoction with instant coffee powder. Filter coffee also works great for this recipe. There is a slight difference between Caffe latte and Cappuccino, the major one being the proportion of milk and espresso.
As I am following the Italian meal structure this week, I chose to make three beverages for the theme. Coffee is a pretty famous beverage in Italy and so there are so many variations available. First I chose another recipe, which is a combination of hot chocolate, coffee and whipped cream. And my daughter was eagerly waiting for her share, but after I saw this recipe, I went for this. Let me make it for some other day for her. I have made this coffee without any added sugar, but if you can’t have your coffee without sugar, then add it with the coffee. Use a small fork or a whisk to froth the milk. You can also use a hand blender or beater for a large quantity. Sprinkle a little coffee powder on top for the extra coffee kick.
Ingredients:
Water – 1/2 cup
Instant Coffee Powder – 2 tsp
Milk – 1/2 cup
Procedure:
Bring water to boil.
Add the coffee powder and remove from flame.
Heat milk and with a whisk, whisk it until it froths.
In a serving glass, pour the hot coffee.
Add milk on top by skimming the froth to a side.
Finally top the cup with the froth and serve immediately.

I love the aroma of coffee , but don’t drink it . These cups of coffee are tempting and anyone who likes coffee will not wait to enjoy it .
IKEA has a milk frother that is very popular and it’s not expensive at all. It would work perfectly for homemade lattes and cappuccinos. My husband is a coffee fan and would love a hot cup of coffee with a little sugar in it.
I somehow agree to you that sugar messes up with coffee taste… but believe me, for instant, a little sweetness helps but for the one that you get in capsules or the roasted coffee, without sugar is like a kick, and I normally mellow it down with a little Stevia. Hehe… HD loves cappucino and I do make it on and off depending on my mood…. Those cups look so good…
My husband is a coffee lover and he loves to experiment with coffee. This one is definitely for him 🙂
Every time I go to Starbucks, I always order Caffe latte. I agree creating that frothy expresso and milk is hard. But try the hand frother. It comes really well. I am not sure if it’s available in India. I think I got an idea what to get for this BM meet. 🙂
Latte looks so tempting.. I cannot drink without sugar. black coffee is so good should try soon.
