If you have followed my blog regularly, you might know that I take part in Mega marathon on April and September every year. We discuss a lot about finalising the theme of the month and we blog every day taking a break on Sundays. Either it is in alphabetical order or any other order, either with sub themes or not, but the research we do is incredible. I am not a great fan of A-Z recipes. So only if there is a rule, I follow it otherwise I don’t. This month we are doing a Biryani/Pulao/Kichdi festival where we can blog about any biryani or pulao or kichdi with a grain as the base. And it can be either Indian or International. I love to explore Indian recipes, so I took this as a chance and made biyani/pulao from 26 states and Union Territories this month.
The preparation started nearly six months back because that is the only way I could complete it. As me and hubby don’t consume rice, I had to make this only for Sruti and she is available only on week ends. So I had to start earlier. But still I managed to make a couple of recipes for myself and had it within my macros. So you can’t really classify it as cheat meal. Rather than the cooking part, I loved the planning. Making the list was super exciting. And one thing I leaned about biryani and pulao all over India is that they may sound so similar yet they have something different and specific to regions. I have left out some states and some union territories because of the lack of days. My daughter loved every single recipe I made for her and she was sad that I completed the preparations. Now I have to start planning for the next mega BM and so pulao varieties will take a break.
I hope you also enjoy the recipes as much as I enjoyed making them. Initially I used to think that making biryani was a tough work, but after working on 26 recipes, I have found that it is the easiest dish we can put together and also tastes amazing. I have tried making the traditional non veg recipes with paneer and mushroom. I even ordered an equipment for one particular biryani, but you will read about it in the post. So keep checking to know what exciting recipes I have lined up for you all.
