For the first day of regional cuisine from a country theme, I have a sweet to start with. Kada /Karah Prasad is the sweet offered as prasad in gurudwar. This is a famous Punjabi sweet. When I visited Gurudwar in Delhi, they served this prasad hot and it was so tasty. Usually prasad given in temple have an unique flavour which can never be made at home. So the prasad I made was not that tasty, but still it was so good. This is mildly sweet and it is immersed in ghee. So if you are worried about adding ghee, you can reduce the quantity.
I came across the recipe in Veg Recipes of India blog and it was so lovely to look. I think mine turned out little paler in colour. I should have roasted the flour to a darker colour I think. But still it was silky smooth and soft and was so nice. Look at the amount of ghee in the bowl. If you are on diet, then you need to stay away from this halwa. I made this months back for the Indian Sweets mega BM, but when I decided on making only milk sweets, I kept it as draft for a suitable theme to come by. And I think today’s theme is perfect.

Wheat Flour – 1/2 cup
Sugar – 1/2 cup
Ghee – 1/2 cup

In a sauce pan mix together sugar and water and bring it to boil.
At the same time, in a pan mix ghee and wheat flour and cook until the flour changes colour and is aromatic.
Pour the syrup in two installments as it will splutter a lot.

When all the ingredients are combined to a smooth pulp, keep on cooking the mixture until it lets out ghee.
Once the ghee oozes out of the halwa, remove it from heat and serve it hot or warm.
