Sandesh is an amazing sweet from West Bengal and I used to love it. But after my converting to paleo, I have stopped eating sweets. Recently I came across the perfect natural sweetener I could use instead of sugar and now I try to recreate my favourtie sweets. I usually make paneer based sweets as they are perfect to go with the low carb diet I am following. Use home made soft paneer for best results as we will be serving this raw. The mixture is not cooked so it is the easiest of all sweets I have prepared until now.
The raw version of sandesh is called as kancha golla. I made it for a BM and I loved it so much. So I made a sugar free version for myself one day. I also added a tbs of cacao nibs to the ladoos for a twist to the original recipe. You can add sliced pistachios for a more authentic version. Cacao nibs are paleo friendly as far as they are untreated. So make sure to read the ingredients list before purchasing the pack. I got it from Amazon. Let me give the link below. Use it occasionally. I loved the combination of paneer and cacao nibs in this ladoo.
Ingredients:
Paneer – 75 gm
Cacao Nibs – 1 tbs
Stevia – 1/4 tsp
Erythritol – 1 tsp
Fresh Cream – 1 tbs
Procedure:
In a bowl mix together all ingredients and knead to form a smooth dough.
Divide into small portions.
Shape each into a ladoo.
Serve in individual mini cupcake liners.

Very interesting! I don’t seem to like the aftertaste of stevia and my hunt for erithritol hasn’t been successful here… nonetheless those balls look tempting, never knew there were raw paneer desserts…
Does Erythritol have an after taste? I’ve never liked the aftertaste of the artificial sugars have. Nevertheless your sugar free sondesh look amazing and I love the addition of cocoa nibs in there.
No Pavani, erythritol is the only sugar substitute I have used so far which doesn’t havee an after taste.
Tempting Sandesh Ladoos, thanks for sharing
When one is on diet one automatically gets innovative , and this Ladoo is the proof ! Interesting recipe Gayathri .
This sugar free version looks so good and a treat for people who cannot eat sugar.
wow that’s an amazing Sandesh for people who are following keto diet .. They look so delicious same as the traditional once. And cacao nibs is such an interesting ingredient to add to the yummy Sandesh.
Addition of cacao nibs is a nice twist to traditional sandesh. Glad you found an alternative to sugar and can enjoy your favorite sweets.
I am wondering how the raw paneer would taste. I have never tasted raw paneer in this form. I am sure with the cacao nibs it would be wonderful.
Very interesting one Gayathri, you surely have so many innovative recipes coming up!
Lovely post and so nice your effort for diet is clearly seen here..
Sugar-free sandesh looks super inviting and I am sure must have tasted nice with the sweetness of paneer itself.
