Do you remember my Best Home Made Cream Cheese I posted a while back. Apart from using it for cheese cake shots, I also used it to make frosting for my cakes. I have been getting so many requests for the cream cheese frosting recipes and it is time to give it. I have demonstrated three types of frosting with the cream cheese. If you are not interested in making it at home, use the store bought one. But nothing can beat the home made one.
Cream cheese frosting is slightly different from the normal frosting we use. It has a slight tang from the cheese which gives a very nice flavour to the final frosting. And cream cheese is so versatile. In these three recipes, I have made one using cream, one using butter and one using chocolate. Of all the three chocolate was my favourite. Though I have shown only the dark chocolate frosting, you can also use white chocolate to make white chocolate cream cheese frosting. I am sure you will find this post useful.

Hi Gayathri
Thanx a lot for posting the recipes, I prepared cheese cake last week and had some cream cheese still left. I was searching for a frosting recipe using it, when u posted it today. 🙂
Just 2 doubts:
1) In case of whipped cream cheese frosting, shall I use icing sugar or normal table sugar.. I’ll be using dairy cream here..
2) Is it possible to halve above recipes for trial?
Thanks a lot in advance 🙂
Use icing sugar while whipping the cream. And yes, you can halve the recipes for trial. It works as a breeze..
Thanx a lot dear 🙂
Hi,
I have cheese cubes leftover, can I melt it and whisk it to a creamy texture?
You mean the processed cheese cubes? They are quite stringy and won’t work like this.
Mentioned measurement will yield how much frosting. ?? Would it be enough to coat one 6″ cake ?
With cream, you will have nearly two cups of frosting. Will be enough to frost a 6″ cake.
Dear Gayathri,
Please give me a recipe for cream cheese topping for cup cakes using any cream cheese readily available in Mumbai.
Thanks
Linda
You can use this same recipe with market bought cream cheese too.
