When I first heard the name Tater Tots, I had no idea about the dish as we don’t get it in India as far as I know. Then when I searched for the recipe, I found that it is made of potatoes and deep fried. Who would not like it? For this month’s blogging marathon, for the first week, I chose the theme one vegetable three ways and the vegetable I chose was potato. So tater tot is my first dish with potato. The reason why I selected potato is because my daughter loves it and she will be surely happy for all the three dishes I have planned.
These tater tots are deep fried and have a nice crispy skin and very soft flesh. I was reminded of potato cutlet we make. The recipe is quite simple and you need to do take care while making the dough. The boiled and peeled potatoes need to be dry. So do not over cook them. And do not knead the dough too much. Just bring everything together to form a rough dough so that the tater tots forms a nice crispy skin. Serve them hot along with a dipping sauce of your choice.
Ingredients:
Potatoes – 500 gm, boiled and peeled
Flour / Maida – 2-3 tbs
Salt – tot aste
Pepper Powder to taste
Coriander Leaves – 2 tbs, chopped
Oil – To Deep Fry
Procedure:
Boil potatoes, peel them and grate.
Add flour, salt, pepper and coriander leaves.
Bring them together to form a rough dough.
Pinch off small portion and shape into small cylinders.
Heat oil in a pan.
Deep fry the potato cylinders until nicely browned.
Drain oil, and serve them hot with a dipping sauce.
