If you are wondering what I did with that caramel cake, here is the result. I filled and frosted it with dark chocolate ganache and painted on it with some easy mehandi designs. Adorned with silver sugar beads, this cake photo got a lot of attention on FB. As I have already posted the frosting a cake with ganache, I am starting this video with an already ganached cake. The painting process is very easy. You need to draw it free hand. So practise before you start on the cake.
The cake needs to be dry before painting. So after frosting the cake, let it dry for 8 hours before painting. If you touch, the surface of the cake should be firm. If it is sticky or soft, then the painting will be difficult. Use any edible colour for painting. I find it easy to use gel colours or lustre dusts mixed with vodka. Vodka evaporates leaving behind the paint and so you can easily serve it to kids. If you don’t prefer vodka, then try using clear essence. The only drawback is that it takes a while to dry and you need to be patient while painting. The below video shows you how to paint on the cake. Do take a look and share your views with me.

Have a bowl of very hot water handy. Dip the knife in it and wipe it immediately in a dry towel. Slice the cake when the knife is still warm. After using this technique, you will never attempt to slice a cake with normal room temperature knife.
