While using Banana blossom in cooking, the hard part is cleaning and preparing it. It usually takes at least one hour to do. I have given some step by step tutorial on the procedure. I hope that this post will be useful for beginners. The blossom has many petal and within each petal you can find a bunch of florets resembling the bananas. The first task is to separate the petals and remove the florets. After removing the florets, we can move on to the next step.

The size of florets vary as we go inside. The pinker florets are on the top most layer. |

Open out the floret as shown |

Remove the inner vein and separate the fibres. Discard other parts. |

These are little smaller than the pink ones and you will not be able to open it easily. |

Open it as shown. |

Remove the vein and the transparent part. |

Cut out the stem and discard it |

This is smaller than the previous florets and you cannot open it |

Catch the vein between fingers and pull it out |

Cut out the stem |

These are the tiniest florets |

Just cut the stem |

This is the inner most part and this can be used as it is in cooking or can be chopped to small pieces. |
