I didn’t know about this sweet till marriage. My hubby’s sister taught me this. The sweet uses 7 cups of ingredients(The totla number of ingredients sum up to 7. You can see it in the ingredient list). It slightly resembles the mysorepak. Yesterday I prepared this for neivedhyam. These are not very perfect but the taste was great. Last week was so hectic because of the guests. My daughter was enjoying. I prepared a lot of dishes, but couldn’t find time to blog. Kids enjoyed this burfi a lot. So when they left yesterday, I packed off this sweet to take home for the kiddies.
Ingredients:
Besan / Chick pea Flour-1cup
Sugar-3cups
Grated Coconut-1cup
Milk-1cup
Ghee / Clarified Butter-1cup
Cardamom Powder-1tsp
Procedure:
1. Take all the ingredients in a heavy bottomed pan.
2. Switch on flame and stir well. The main part is the stirring process. This sweet tends to stick a lot. So be careful.
3. The mixture will become thin and will start boiling.
4. When the stirring becomes little hard, then you are nearing the end.
5. The mixture will start bubbling and leave the sides.
6. Pour into a greased plate and smoothen the top with the back of a spoon.
7. When the burfi firms up a little, cut into desired shape. Let it cool completely.
8. Remove the pieces from the plate and store in air tight jar.
9. If you remove the mixture a little late, then all you get will be crumbs.
P.S: You need to be patient and you need a lot of practice to master this art. So always start with a 1/4 cup measurement. When you are confident of your skill, you can increase the measurements.
Wishing you Good Luck.
