I saw this delicious cake at Prathiba’s blog. Yesterday I tried it out and it came out so nice. It was so soft and the texture of the cake was great. The orange flavor is surely a winner. Prathiba had asked to add 1/2cup of orange juice but for my mix it was not enough, so I added extra 1/4cup. We all enjoyed it so much. My daughter liked the orange flavour a lot.

Wow! this cake looks great.
Can this cake be made with curd instead of condensed milk? Pls advise what can be replacements for vinegar and condensed milk! Thanks in advance š
Hi Neha, You can use other egg substitutes instead of condensed milk. Try 1/2 cup of curd and 1/2 cup sugar instead. You can just skip vinegar as curd itself has some sour taste.
Hi gayatri.I dnt know from where to start but I will keep it simple. I tried ur orange cake and did the same measurement of all the ingredient and cake was nicely puffing up but aftersome time it fell flat and brown on top and uncooked inside.I am trying to learn baking for my daughter but I have no hope.plz plz let me know as I will try again and I skipped vinegar because you didn’t mention where to add it.plz you are my only hope.thanks
Hi Aaliya, Mix vinegar while mixing the wet ingredients. As for the sinking of the cake, either the temperature was too low or flour was less. Or opening of the oven door before the cake is completely baked will also result in sinking of the cake.
I too had the same doubt. Where to add the vinegar.?
Now I will try
Can I replace ½ cup butter with ½ cup oil
Kajal, you can use Vanaspathi. As butter is not in melted form, using oil will create a different texture..
This cake’s texture seems amazing with no eggs. i want to make a vanilla cake using this recipe. for than can i omit teh ornage juice. or can i replace with water or milk.
Use milk instead. It will be fine..
Can we use oil instead of butter in this recipe. Thanks in advance.
Yes, you can use..
I’ve baked this so many times and so many other cakes from your amazing blog. But still is by far the all time favorite of my family and friends, especially my daughter. Thanks for these lovely recipes.
Can I add any nuts in this recipe
Yes, you can..
For how long can the cake be kept outside
A day at the most. As this is eggless, it is better to keep it refrigerated.
Just made this cake. Few modifications i did. Used orange emulsion instead of vanilla. Used half cup tropicana orange juice and half cup mapro’s orange filling. No zest. Had to use 2 tbsp milk. No vinegar. N baked for 55 mins. 50 mins in middle rack both rods on and 5 mins in middle rack top rod on with grill option (i didnt have only top rod option)
I must say the cake was super yumm. Not moist but soft. I prefer soft cakes instead of moist ones. N the top was crunchy, just how i like it. Thank you for sharinf the receipe
Hi gayathri,
Iām a regular visitor if ur blog and I have tried a couple of ur cakes and the results have been amazing.Thank you for putting up such recipes.
3 days ago I had tried your orange cake and I had sent it to my mom.I just discovered that the cake was raw in the Centre when cut and felt bitter.I did the toothpick test and it seemed fine. There were no crumbs or sign of it being uncooked but my mom said that when she ate the cake it felt like eating raw cake. The sides were cooked. Can you please advice where did I go wrong as I did make a change to the recipe after adding the required amount of ingredients as mentioned my batter looked quite thick so I did add a little milk to make it pouring consistency.Do you think that was the mistake.
Hi Jivika, there are so many things that can go wrong while baking. I feel that the cake was under baked. Sometimes there may be voltage fluctuations or heat fluctuations in the oven which leads to this result. Adding a little bit of liquid may also be the problem.
Hi Gayatri
Tried this recipe. The cake was soft and had a good orange flavour.
