For the second day, here is one more easy breezy dessert you can put together in around fifteen minutes. I am not going for any traditional recipes this week, but am just giving you some good ideas for any party you will be doing for easter or some other occasion. Ever since I bought a pack of dried rose petals from Delhi, I have been using it to top my desserts. My daughter loves it and being the only one who is trying out the desserts, I am quite happy to add the rose petals on them. They look so good and tastes great too.

Here comes the next week of Blogging Marathon and I have chosen Easter treats as the theme. At first I was planning for some breads, but I couldn’t make them ahead and on the day of posting, I didn’t want to go for any complicated recipe. When I was browsing through recipes for easter desserts, they are mostly chocolates and I came up with one of my own. I put this together with all the ingredients from my pantry. You can go for any filling you like as this is so versatile.
Black forest cake is one of the hot selling cakes in any bakery. And even the recipe in my blog and YouTube have got a good number of views. Whenever I post cake recipes, I get so many requests for cooker cakes. In India, before OTGs came into normal day to day use, pressure cookers were the ovens for most of the housewives, including my mom. My mom used to add some fine sand in the bottom of a cooker or a cast iron pan and baked cakes in it. The sand used to maintain even heat throughout the pan and so the cake baked will turn out so good. I started pressure cooker baking only after some viewers asked me for the recipe.
Vegetarian version of the white chocolate mirror glaze has been in my to do list for long. I have even tried it so many times and failed it. So I just stopped trying. But my readers and viewers haven’t stopped asking me about it. I used to reply that I will do, but didn’t get the needed push to do it. When I went to Delhi, I met with one of Vaishali’s nieces who wanted a recipe for white chocolate glaze so that she can make it for her kid’s first birthday. I promised her that I will post a video immediately.
Let me start this New Year with a delicious chocolate cake. I have been trying to make swiss roll for so many days now. Making a perfect roll without any cracks is a great challenge. And I have been failing badly in it. When I saw a recipe for chocolate swiss roll, I noted that recipe and tried it on one fine day. And like all the attempts, even this failed and I was left with a bowl full of cake crumbs. I didn’t want to make cake pops again. So I searched the net for recipes to use up the cake crumbs and chanced upon a video by Bhavana. That video gave me an idea for these rolls.
Cookies and cream is a combination which has been tried widely in cakes and desserts. So I decided to make my version of the cupcakes. For the cupcake recipe I used my eggless chocolate cupcakes I posted earlier with little change for a more fluffier texture. I also made a video for the same. The batter has an oreo cookie stuffed inside before baking. And the cream has the oreo crumbs in it. And finally, an oreo cookie tops the whole cupcake.
Do you remember my Best Home Made Cream Cheese I posted a while back. Apart from using it for cheese cake shots, I also used it to make frosting for my cakes. I have been getting so many requests for the cream cheese frosting recipes and it is time to give it. I have demonstrated three types of frosting with the cream cheese. If you are not interested in making it at home, use the store bought one. But nothing can beat the home made one.
This month has been very bad so far. I have been failing in many of my experiments and I am feeling so low nowadays. But still I couldn’t keep away from trying new things. Though I share my success stories here, my failures doesn’t make to the blog. But they are surely lessons learnt and I will never be repeating those mistakes again. I selected candies for this month and it is testing my patience too much. First I tried making honeycomb. The result was awesome, but I poured it into a smaller tin and it oozed out. Somehow I contained it inside the tin, but the paper I used for lining stuck to it. I had too waster all those paper stuck honey combs but still Sruti loves those bits and pieces which I recovered after breaking it. Next I tried making peanut brittle. This time I oiled the paper, the mixture came out perfect but again the brittle stuck to the paper. I tried a lot to remove the paper but couldn’t even remove a single bit of it. That is it, the whole batch got wasted.
Made with layers of cake, ganache and whipped cream, this shot glass dessert with leftover cake is so easy to assemble and tastes so yum. When ever I make a cake for video, I am always left with a few pieces of cake and some frosting which most of the time gets a make over as cake balls. When Valli announced the theme of shot glass desserts, I wanted to make this as one of the recipes. This will make a great party dessert and you can bake the cake especially for that. And it is so easy to assemble and I am sure your guests will praise you.
