I saw this preparation in many blogs around the blogosphere. Having peas at home is very handy. It is also economical when you prepare it at home. I usually prepare this when the cost of peas is low and it helps when the cost rockets up. It is a very easy preparation, all you need is patience. Buy peas with pods and the main work is to separate the peas from pods. The step which follows is comparatively easier. Boil water, drop the peas and when the peas come to top, strain it out, dry it and store it. You need not worry about it for the next six months or a year.
This is how the the peas look when they come out of freezer. Give it some time to come back to room temperature. If you are in hurry, then drop it in warm water to bring it to room temperature. It is easy to use when you store it small zip lock bags. By this way the temperature of the other peas will remain the same which increases their shelf life.
Remove the peas from the pods.
Heat water in a dep large pan. When it starts boiling add a portion of the peas.
After a minute or two the peas will start coming to the top.
Remove the peas on top and place it in a meal strainer.
When the water is drained, spread it on a clean cloth and let it dry completely under a fan.
The peas will look like this when completely dry.
Pack one or two cups in a zip lock bag. Do the same with the remaining peas. Keep all the bags in a bigger bag and place it in freezer. Use when needed.
